I did the math the other day, and it costs me $0.20 a mile to drive the Volvo and $0.30 a mile to drive the truck… And that is just the cost of gas! That doesn’t take into account the cost of tires, tune ups, parts, etc.

That works out to about $6 a day to drive 30 miles round trip to work and back.

Which costs about $30 a week!

Which adds up to about $130 a month!!!

And totals out at $1,500 a year just to drive to and from work.

But with a new housing option opening up in Walnut Creek it would cut my gas bill in half. Time to clean and pack a little.

• Firefox 3 is out. Oh, and I learned something new about Firefox… you can set multiple pages as your start up page. In the link field, you’d enter “www.gmail.com | www.stevearnett.com | www.kg6zjl.com”
• SyncToy is great for all of you needing to backup photos and sync files in multiple places. And it’s free.
• Wordpress 2.6 is out… any good or bad news about it?

Congrats to two of my good friends who now get to enjoy the rest of their goofy lives together!

I’ve been coughing the entire time the world has been on fire… so maybe it’s just California that’s on fire. But I was sitting at the waterfront the other day in Martinez and across the water and up past the first peak I was watching flames reach into the sky. The moon has been orange from the smoke and yesterday the sun was greatly diffused. It sure makes it feel like the whole world is on fire.

I’m just sick of coughing from the smoke. God, we need rain. And lots of it!

Ok, and I have to share a clean biblical joke that just made me laugh… and then cough.

Q: Why didn’t they play cards on Noah’s Ark?
A: Cause Noah was standing on the deck!

Today will be spent on the shocks and brakes. Then I can take truck back home! In a few weeks I’ll attack the rear portion of the lift. My wallet is going through anxiety and depression issues just paying for the front.

WOW! What a fantastic weekend. I spent a good portion of the time underground exploring ice caves and lava tubes. It was like nothing I’ve ever seen before. We were in the shadow of majestic Mt. Shasta, enjoying the breathtaking views of the McCloud River, and hiking through dry lava beds. It was very cool.
